About Roy
Roy Rivers is both an entertainer and a singer/songwriter whose songs and live concert events reflect the continuing spiritual journey of his life. As of this date, he has written over 140 songs. Roy’s voice has always been compared to that of John Denver, one of his musical heroes.
He signed with AGR/Universal in Germany in 2004, and then released a John Denver tribute record in 2005 (“Thank God I’m A Country Boy”) which included 6 of John’s songs and 6 of his own. The title cut, a duet with Dolly Parton, went straight to #1 on the country music charts in Europe. Two other self-penned songs, “What Our Love Is Not About”, and “Oh Railroad”, went to #2 and #4.
Roy also had the honor of receiving the German/American Country Music Hall of Fame award on behalf of John Denver in 2005. In 2006 Roy received 6 European CMA award nominations, with he and Dolly winning the CMA for Vocal Collaboration of the Year.
“My songs speak to the feelings and emotions I experience in life. Almost all of my songs have a story behind them. Through my music I hope to instill a little more hope, a little more understanding and tolerance, and a little more love for one another.”
