This "almost" album also features a selection of all original songs and one poem by Roy. It was never really officially released, and it just represents a loose collection of what was flowing out of him over the course of about 2 years. It was a time of not much productivity. There are a few good songs in it however. His intention was to release it after replacing a few of the weaker selections with new material, but other life issues were going on, and beyond about the dozen copies or so which he ordered from MP3.com to bounce off of friends, it just lost its momentum with him, never becoming a cohesive project... so he moved on.

Oh Railroad

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

Well I'm sitting here waiting
On the train at the station
It arrives at a quarter of eight
Got my bags and I'm ready
Gonna visit my baby
And I hope that she's not late
I'm spending my time
Staring down at the line
That will take me away from here
Oh railroad, and I'm an engineer

Well it's station to station
Crossing all of the nation
It's the line and the weight on her back
And her hearts just a pounding
And her whistle is sounding
As she rumbles down the track
It's every day, pulling all of the way
Now she's ready to pull in here
Oh railroad, and I'm an engineer

Well, some say she's ready
And it's time to retire
Cause their profits are suffering
And they're stuck in the mire
She's caught up in wonder
From the stories they spin
And if you look on her back
She's even carrying them

It's the steel and the shaking
And the curves and the braking
And I smile as I take it all in
It's the feel of the power
Running hour by hour
And the spirit of all those men
There's something about
All the ins and the outs
And the power behind those wheels
Oh railroad, and I'm an engineer
Oh railroad, and I'm an engineer

Touch My Heart

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

Will I hold together or fall apart
Dare I let you touch my heart?
I'm somehow standing all alone
I feel to run, yet I long for home... I long for home

I guess my life has been confused
I try to give but I feel so used
Ever searching, but never found
How'd I get so upside down

As I search my heart for answers
And some meanings come along
Like a glimpse into a lost reality
I am drawing ever closer to the singer of the song
As I gaze into this mirror it is me

Am I so misunderstood?
Or lost to everything that’s good
I’m reaching out with trembling hands
Hoping you might understand... just understand

Like the dream before you wake
Memory often can’t relate
So I walk this winding road
And feel the burden of my load

As I search my heart for answers
And some meanings come along
Like a glimpse into a lost reality
And I'm drawing ever closer to the singer of the song
As I gaze into this mirror it is me... It is me

Will I hold together or fall apart
Dare I let you touch my heart

I'm Missing You

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

I woke up crying, because I lost you
I feel so lonesome, now that you're gone
So every morning, the prayer I'm asking
Is for some healing, and the strength to carry on

Remember when you told me?
I didn't want to hear you.
And every time you tried to, just wasn't good for me
You pulled me up to you, when finally you had to
I felt a rush of panic, washing over me

You said it's gonna be okay,
And life will still go on
And though I'm sure to feel some pain,
That love would keep me strong, yes and
As difficult as it may seem, that I could make it through
And find some peace and happiness, but still
I'm missing you

Instrumental

And you said that I would be okay,
And life would still go on
Though my heart would heal with time,
That love would keep me strong, yes and
Every day's a memory, of every dream come true
And the life we shared before you said goodbye...
And I'm missing you

Instrumental

I woke up crying, because I lost you

Put It In Drive

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

45, 50, 55, 60, Well I'm getting there pretty fast
65, 70, 75, Yeah, 80 was such a blast
I'm getting real close now to 85
If you want to go somewhere in life you've gotta put it in drive

When I was a baby my daddy told me maybe
I could grow up to be like him
But when I was 10, I took a look at him then
And I knew that it would be a sin
He's got a lack of ambition in those foggy eyes
If you want to be something in life you've gotta put it in drive

Put it in drive
Well I'm taking it all the way
My pedal's to the metal
That's the only way I know how to play
I'm gonna move on down this road
I'm gonna put it in drive

Oh early Sunday morning, didn't even get a warning,
Just a "BLAP" and my door fell in
Well they caught me in my "skivy's",
Got a rash of "hibby jibby's"
Thought my world was just crashing in
Found a new appreciation for the meaning of life
Yeah, when it's all said and done, there son,
You've gotta put it in drive

(CHORUS & INSTRUMENTAL)

Taking power from people's, like a church and no steeple
You'll be heading for nowhere fast
But if you give'em some room, and load them up with some ZOOM
And they'll move to the head of the class
It's a part of the plan, it's the way to arrive
It's the way to get the most out of life,
You've gotta put it in drive

(CHORUS)

Gonna put it in drive
You've got to put it in drive
Come on let's put it in drive
I'm gonna put it in drive

Leaves Me With

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

Oh who am I to know?
It's impossible to really understand
The memories and the letting go
It's like losing her... again
Oh who am I to say?
Should I love again, or simply walk away
If everything is meant to be
Then where is that... leaving me?

It leaves me with my heart
It leaves me with my dreams
It leaves me with this moment now
That I'm living in
And I'm living in... what it leaves me with

Oh what am I to feel
Emotions run so rampant in my heart
To believe the dream or face what's real
Just tears my world apart
O how am I to stand?
Without her in my life to hold my hand
A lesson learned in misery
And it leaves me with... reality

It leaves me with my heart
It leaves me with my dreams
It leaves me with this moment now
That I'm living in

To be alone somewhere... to be apart
To build another way... to make a brand new start

It leaves me with my heart
It leaves me with my dreams
It leaves me with this moment now
That I'm living in
And I'm living in... what it leaves me with

Texas Dreams

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

Not long ago I moved away and left her open arms
I thought a new direction just couldn't do no harm
So I packed up my Durango and headed out of town
And 20 hours later, I thought I'd settle down

Well I found a job and I found a girl, and I found another way
But the memories of my other love keep getting in my way

I love the Texas life...
Oh how she blossoms in the spring
With her trees in bloom and the sweet perfume
Her flowers always bring
It's the Texas sunshine, and the Texas rain
Oh all these things are such a part of me
And my Texas dreams

Now the days would come and the days would go
In a slow monotony
Until I up and realized what had become of me
And somewhere in my lonely heart I knew I would return
Cause Texas loves most everyone, It'll make your heart just burn...

For the Texas life...
Oh how she blossoms in the spring
With her trees in bloom, and the sweet perfume
Her flowers always bring
It's the Texas sunshine, and the Texas rain
Oh all these things are such a part of me
And my Texas dreams

Now we've been talking it over
Gonna give it a whirl
I'm headed back to my lone star
And I even brought my girl

We'll have a Texas life...
Oh how we'll love her in the spring
With her trees in bloom, and the sweet perfume
Her flowers always bring
It's the Texas sunshine and the Texas rain
Oh all these things are such a part of me
And my Texas dreams

Oklevueha

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

We' oginali
Gasaqualv
O Ko'hiu'sv
Uha tohido

Oklevueha, Medicine Man Thanks the fire
The water and land
And the wind...
For (on behalf of) these women and men
Who have come
To be healed
By the Indians

He says a prayer
For the circle they're in
He shares the cup
And the healing begins
The Spirit talks
We are listening in
To the truth and the faith Of the Indians

Some men doubt
In the gift which he shares
It's anything (white man excuses)
From the length of his hair
To the medicine
Or the getting out there
They just ignore
All the ways of the Indians

And some embrace
And they take it all in
The Greatest One has provided for them
The early ways have been handed on down
And they live in the lives Of the Indians

Translation of the Cherokee language at the songs beginning:
Dear Friends, May the circle we're in this day bring good peace
to our body's, minds and spirits.
Ha Ho (Amen)

Find Me

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

From out of her bed in the dark night
Her summer taken away by a thief... then fleeing
Far from the peace of her home and family
Frightenend... but holding on... and she cries out
Find me

Her mother and father awake in the morning
To terror and shock, and her name they are calling
They fall to their knees and they hold each other
And they cry out to God - Won't you help us please
To find her

All their emotions are running away... it's clear
Behind every moment is wanting to have her near
They focus to not let their thoughts run away
And they pray she can hear them...
Elizabeth... we're here

From out of her bed in the dark night
Her summer taken away by a thief... and then fleeing
Far from the peace of her home and family
Frightenend... but holding on... and she cries out
Find me
Find me
Please, find me

A Fewer Set Of Ways

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

From time to time in travels
I'm reminded of those days
When life was lived more simply
With a fewer set of ways
Ways that leaned more towards love
And family, and smarts
And not so much like ways today
That tend to harden hearts

Don't think that I'm just groaning
Or lamenting out of spite
But there's just so many things today
That take away our light
The light of love for others
The light of peace towards men
The light of service given
And the light of trusted friends

It seems that everyplace we go
There's something we must buy
And everywhere we cast our eyes
A way, or thing to try
And try we must, we've been convinced
Our progress feels at stake
But some things tried, inflict a wound
And scar our hearts with hate

We hate our boss, we hate our life
We hate the endless lines
We hate the beggars on the street
And we hate their little signs
And all-consuming this becomes
And nudges off the course
The very life we're living
And it hides us from our source

The source of every comfort
The source of peace within
The source who leads back to the light
All women, and all men
To that place we all remember
To those quoted, "good ole days"
When life was lived more simply
With a fewer set of ways

Just Look Around

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

I believe in miracles
And I believe in signs
I believe we're living in the fulness of all times
To say it isn't true
Are the least your words can do
If you look around... just look around

Celeste is in a coma
It's been 27 days
The doctors hold no hope for her
She'll surely pass away
Oh but then her eyes are opened
And her parents shed their tears
And it's nothing less than a miracle

I believe there are angels all around
Sent to help us with our lives
Some can see them
But some of us are blind
Just look around... just look around

Long ago the rainbow
Was given as a sign
A promise from our Father
To all of humankind
No thing of greater beauty can be written in the sky
It's a sign of love
Oh, but look around

I see brother fighting brother
And refugees of war
And every earthly nation
Is marked with evil's scar
It can't go on forever
Before the trumpet sounds
And Jesus comes... and looks around

I believe there are angels all around
Sent to help us with our lives
Some can see them
But some of us are blind
Just look around... just look around

Look around... our hearts are being opened
Look around... what are we fighting for?
Look around... at all that we've been given
Wont you look around? Just look around

I believe there are angels all around
Sent to help us with our lives
Some can see them
But some of us are blind
Just look around... just look around
Look around

Dreaming My Way Home

Words & Music By: Roy Rivers
LYRICS/CHORD SHEET | CHORDIE FILE

Oh the wind, it blows so cold here
On this mountainside
But still it feels like paradise,
As I gaze across the sky

Cause heaven is in the sky
And the earth provides my home
And the wind helps me reach
The highest heights I've flown
It's like I'm dreaming my way home

Well, I get this sense when I'm dreaming
Like something’s gone before
And I find myself a flying,
From my mountains to the shore
And I hear the distant songs,
And I'm singing right along
And the words tell of all the dreams I've dreamed before
And I'm dreaming my way home

Oh the higher we fly together The closer we'll be forever

(Instrumental)

You can see me in the morning,
At the breaking of the dawn
In the words you'll hear me singing
In the setting of the sun
And I can see you too
In your dreams I'll come to you
And our hearts will hold each other from now on

And I'm dreaming my way home
And I'm dreaming my way home
And I'm dreaming my way... home
